Signs of a Strong Trail Culture in Central Ohio
Plus some of my favorite Cycle Forward blog posts from over the years
Let me start by welcoming all of my new subscribers. I’m happy to have you as part of the Cycle Forward community. I use this space to write about trails, placemaking, and the wonder of nature. More importantly, it’s a place for trail advocates and community champions to come together and imagine a better collective future.
One of my favorite things to do is explore communities. I can’t tell you many times I’ve turned a 4-5 hour driving trip into a 10-hour marathon. “Oh, let’s just stop and see what this town is like!” leads to some fun discoveries, not to mention really long days.
What’s a real treat for me is when I visit new places as part of my work here at Cycle Forward. Last week, I was in Columbus continuing my Trail Town work with Central Ohio Greenways. My client, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, has asked me to continue that work, specifically considering the unique trail-related needs of urban and suburban communities. To get a better feel for the area, we visited a few communities. Let me “show” rather than tell. Here are some photos I took that indicating a strong trail and cycling culture:
Some Blog Posts from over the Years
Maybe it’s because I have a big business anniversary coming up (more on that next time!) or because there are so many new followers here, but I decided to dig into my past posts and share some that I really enjoyed writing. I hope you’ll enjoy reading them, too!
