Thanks for sharing such thoughtful reviews on what you’ve read in the past year. The only nonfiction I tend to read these days is about the craft of writing (!) but based on your reviews, I think I better start expanding my horizons. So many books…so little time!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, Patty! I agree with your sentiment, having so many books I want to get to. Have you read Bird by Bird (Anne Lamott), The Writing Life (Annie Dillard) or On Writing (Stephen King). I have them all but haven't gotten to them yet.
For sure! I have read so many excerpts from Bird by Bird that I keep forgetting I haven't actually read the whole book! The same goes for On Writing, but that one is closer to the top of my writing craft pile!😄
I have not read The Writing Life -- I will have to look into that one. I did read Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic (not just excerpts - haha), which I would recommend to anyone working in a creative field. I also have several of K.M. Weiland's craft books. Her work planted the first seeds in my brain as to how I would structure my novel. There are so many quality books and talented writers out there! I would definitely be up for discussing the ones we have both read, once we have both read them!☺️
